My Favorite Video Games:
I love the Dark Souls series. They are all very good games that I think everyone should play and enjoy. But out of the 3 Dark Souls games, number 2 is my favorite.
The Gameplay
Dark Souls II is an entry in the Dark Souls series, known for its difficulty, as both bosses and standard enemies have the potential to defeat the player in only a few hits. Bad play is punished severely by most enemies, and opportunities for recovering health are limited. With each death, the player's maximum health is reduced. This process, called hollowing, can continue until the HP bar reaches a set lower limit of 50%. The player's full HP bar is only recovered when they expend a rare item. The game uses a form of joint currency called "souls", which are used as both experience points for leveling up and also as currency for purchasing items from shops. Upon death, the player's entire collection of souls is dropped; the player can recover their dropped souls by returning to the spot where they died, but if they die before picking them up, the souls are permanently lost.
The gameplay loop consists of going into an area with the intent of beating the boss of that area and moving on to the next. There are enemies along the way to the boss that could be either really hard of really easy, you never know which is the case. In the game you are able to pick up and find different weapons and armor to make yourself a build.
You are also able to level up at the hub area to either increase your health or stamina, or make yourself stronger with the build you are using. Leveling up costs "souls" which is what you get from defeating eneimes and bosses.
There are bonfires set around the world, and those are your checkpoints where you can rest and heal up. Healing items consist of the Estus flask, a refillable flask that gets replenished at bonfires, and Life gems which are not replenishable which means you have to buy more if you run out. There are differnet merchants and black smiths around the world, who can make your weapons stronger or sell you better gear.
Playing Online
There is the ability to summon people into your world to help you beat a boss or get through the area. These are real people online, who put their sign down with the intent of helping. Once you defeat a boss with your summon, they return to their own world and are able to help more people. You can also invade people in this game. Invading means you invade into someone elses world with the intent of killing them and not letting them get to the boss. If you are succesfull in killing them you get a reward and are sent home. But if you die, you loose all your souls and gain nothing.
The Bosses
I love the bosses in this game. They are very unique and offer a good challenge. In the games DLC there is one of my favorite boss fights in a game ever with the boss "Fume Knight" a decently hard fight and a cool looking knight.
